Session 0.7 — The Mire Disturbance

Summary

As the party prepared to leave for the mining operation. A deep rumble and disturbance was felt coming from the swampy forests to the west in Taethryn. Aloris troops mobilized quickly to ward off swamp creatures, goblins, and 2 large scrags escaping eastward into Aloris territory. Leywin leading 25 men invited the party along to assist with promise of reward for their effort, their mission to seek out what was causing the disturbance and put an end to it.

Marching into the swamp and forest was trivial due to Leywin's ability to solidify their path. They stopped abruptly as the group came up on Taethryrn soldiers. Easily double the number of men, Leywin sent the party towards the disturbance in hopes that you could deal with it while they held back Taethryn who attacked without a chance at diplomacy.

The party hurried on coming into a more wet clearing, there zombies and skeletons riddled the waters, and across a lone shadowy figure, its face obscured. The party noticed a dark shroud coming from a half submerged body with a dagger sticking out of its chest. The figure rushed to the dagger and the party responded by doing the same. Both the party and the figure battling against the terrain, and undead,

Terry managed to get to the dagger first and whether luck or destiny, pulled it free without recourse. The body flashed back to life, giving just a moment of awareness before it dispersed into radiant energy. With the dagger removed, the undead also disintegrated, and the water levels dropped considerably. The figure fought to disarm Terry as the a few party members surrounded and defeated the figure, who upon failure also faded into dustlike shadow.

The party looted the area, made their way back before their conscious brought them back down the path to search for survivors. They found Leywin tied up and bloodied. Scouting up ahead and quickly making a decision, the party confronted the 3 Taethyrn individuals. Killing 2, and capturing the officer. All returning to Marshrise keep while Leywin summoned a teleportation circle to call for reinforcements to carry their dead back.
